QSURE Updates

On 9 June 2021, QSURE (Pty) Ltd became aware that it has been subject to illegal and unauthorised access to its IT Infrastructure, and immediately isolated its IT network and shut down its systems.

QSURE has obtained legal advice and appointed three industry-leading and independent cyber-forensic and security technology firms to conduct a detailed forensic investigation into the cybersecurity incident.

The preliminary investigations have confirmed that data has been exfiltrated from QSURE's servers. The data relates to policyholders who are clients of QSURE's customers (Insurers and Brokers) and includes banking details, limited to the account holder name, bank account numbers and bank branch codes. Policyholder credit card account details are NOT stored on QSURE’s systems and databases, nor are any policyholder identity numbers, any form of contact details or policy content.

Since the data breach, QSURE, under guidance from its cyber-security and IT experts, has created an alternative, isolated network, with no links to its former system. The isolated system was functional and available from 14 June 2021.

The forensic investigation is still ongoing. In addition to the investigations being conducted into the cybersecurity incident, QSURE, guided by the security experts, is reviewing its cybersecurity measures and will implement any necessary upgrades or improvements to further secure the information contained on its systems.

QSURE has informed its clients of the cybersecurity incident and reported it to the Information Regulator and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).

We take the safety and security of our clients data extremely seriously and continue to take the necessary steps to protect and secure it against any future attacks. The company apologises for the disruption caused by this illegal breach, and will continue to update its business partners in this regard.

Policy holders are advised to contact their Insurance Broker for any queries.
